Peterbilt Pride: Mark Daye Transport

Peterbilt Atlantic customers represent some of the hardest working companies in Eastern Canada. Mark Daye Transport of Grand Bay, New Brunswick has traveled the roads of the east coast for nearly three decades. Owner Mark Daye was kind to share his insight into the transport sector.

Tell us a bit about your business:

We hauled wood for years. We do plenty of container work now too - we work with Black's Transfer Ltd. We travel throughout New Brunswick, around the Maritimes, down to Boston and up to Quebec.

How many years have you been active?

25 years.

What changes have you seen in your industry?

I've seen lots of changes over the years. In the beginning there was no women drivers and now they are common. The roads have improved greatly. "The Airline" (Calais to Bangor) has particularly gotten so much better.

How many years have you been operating Peterbilts?

Just bought my first one this year. It was one of my proudest moments. My father and I ran many different trucks over the years and he would often say "One of these days we will do this in a Peterbilt".

What do you like about Peterbilt trucks?

They've got an old-school look with new technology. You can drive them a long distance without getting tired. They feel like a train - glued to the road.

What do you like about Peterbilt Atlantic?

The new location in Fredericton is very convenient for us. We have trucks going to Nackawic a couple times per week and it is so easy to stop. Tyler Witherell in the sales department has really gone the extra mile for us on so many things. 

Favourite place to grab a meal on the road?

Everyone loves Dysart's in Bangor.

Favourite highway on the East Coast?

"The Airline" from Bangor to Calais. It's the last stretch home. Been along it so many times over the years that I know every inch - every nook and cranny. Day Hill is a classic landmark.
