In most jurisdictions, government regulation required every diesel engine that operates near oil and gas sites to be equipped with an adequate air intake shutdown valve. New government regulations also came into effect in 2018 regarding the presence and use of positive shut-off systems for diesel engines. Any diesel engine that is running for any reason during the loading or off-loading of dangerous goods must be equipped with an automatic air intake shut off device.

The system is designed so that valve will not close unless users want their engine to shut down, whether it is by dash control or pre-set RPM.
